The concept creates a landscaped, light-filled winter garden of wellness.

Located at a gateway corner to The Ohio State University, this addition to existing Newton Hall consolidates all of the College of Nursing’s teaching and research functions in one facility. Inspired by current nursing pedagogy which postulates that uplifting environments improve healing and health, the concept creates a landscaped, light-filled winter garden of wellness.

The addition is the first WELL-certified building on the OSU campus and features a student commons with lush interior plantings connected to an exterior campus lawn. Curving walkways and ramps promote movement, and the incorporation of tactile materials such as wood and concrete connect the facility to the earth. This biophilic response to the program transforms nursing education at OSU by creating a physical place that expresses their mission of healing the body, mind, and spirit.
