The E.J. Ourso College of Business was built to create a community of scholars in pursuit of business innovation for the Gulf South economy following Hurricane Katrina. The cultural ethos and identity of Louisiana State University is entrenched in its historic legacy. In response to their deep connection to the past, the design of the new College of Business creates a landscaped courtyard surrounded by pavilion-scaled structures that recall the adjacent historic campus.

To illustrate an optimistic forward-looking vision of LSU, these traditional pavilion forms are constructed with contemporary materials and details such as ceramic coated mirrored glass and bronze solar screens. The result is a glass and steel landscaped village that speaks to both LSU’s history and its future.
