  • ikon.5 architects was in Philadelphia this week to pick up a Faith & Form Award for the Expansion to the Unitarian Church in Summit, located in Summit, New Jersey. The project was one of 33 across the globe selected for the prestigious honor which recognizes excellence in ecclesiastical design and is jointly sponsored by the American Institute of Architects Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture and Faith & Form magazine.

  • ikon.5 architects was pleased to host the 2016 AIA South Carolina Design Awards. A jury chaired by ikon.5 design principal, Joseph Tattoni, FAIA convened at ikon.5’s studio for a daylong judging session, pouring over scores of entries and ultimately selecting 23 projects in seven categories to receive awards: Design, Residential, Unbuilt, Sustainability, Interior Architecture, Historic Preservation, and Adaptive Reuse. Four student projects were also recognized.

  • The Chicago Athenaeum Museum has selected two buildings designed by ikon.5 to receive a 2015 American Architecture Award. The projects honored are the new Visitor Center at the Monmouth Battlefield State Park in Manalapan, New Jersey and the U.S. Headquarters facility for Schindler Elevator Corporation in Morristown, New Jersey.

  • The Society of American Registered Architects (SARA) has selected three projects designed by ikon.5 architects to receive national Excellence Awards in architecture. A total of fifty-eight projects from thirty five architecture firms in the United States were recognized by SARA this year with awards in three categories: excellence, merit and honor. The awards were presented at a ceremony held October 16th in Coconut Grove, Florida held in conjunction with the SARA’s 59th National Conference.

  • Construction is underway for a new college of business at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. Designed by ikon.5 architects, the $27m facility will be the first purpose built home for the University’s business program, which has been operational since 1965.

  • We are delighted to announce that the European Centre for Architecture and Design in Dublin, Ireland and The Chicago Athenaeum Museum have selected the Monmouth Battlefield State Park Visitor Center to receive an International Architecture Award. As part of that, the project was exhibited in Istanbul, Turkey in October 2014 at “The City of the World” conference, which explores the challenges of contemporary architecture in the New World Era of a Renewed Economic Order.

  • ikon.5 architects has been once again named to the “Architect 50”, a list of top architectural practices in the United States put together by Architect magazine, the official journal of the American Institute of Architects. Now in its fifth year, the highly competitive contest ranks architecture firms across the country according to a number of criteria, including business, sustainability and design. This year ikon.5 was ranked ‘6th Best in Design’ and ‘13th Best Overall’, besting some formidable practices nationwide.

  • More than 300 community leaders, college officials and guests came out Friday to celebrate the official opening of Towson University’s new Academic Center at Harford Community College (HCC). Designed by Princeton, NJ-based based ikon.5 architects, the 55,000 square foot three-story building, to be known as Towson University in Northeast Maryland, provides a 2+2 education for Harford students, allowing them to complete a four-year Towson University degree on Harford’s campus. . Programs of study offered at the new facility include business administration, elementary education, nursing, family & human services, information technology, psychology, sociology, and criminal justice. And more are expected to be added.

  • Princeton, New Jersey-based design studio, ikon.5 architects, has bested global design practices HKS architects and Leo Daly and Associates, winning a competition to design a new student union building at Embry-Riddle, a top aeronautical engineering university in the United States headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida. The firm was one of ten design practices invited to participate in the competition and one of three shortlisted for the project.

  • Today, ikon.5 architects was recognized by two global design publications, New York-based Architizer magazine and London-based World Architecture News, as one of the best global design practices.

  • A prestigious jury panel of top architects from across the globe has selected the McGee Art Pavilion as a finalist in the cultural buildings category of the 2014 Architizer A+ Awards. Now in its second year, the Architizer A+ Awards are billed as “the definitive global architecture awards program with 60 plus categories and over 200 judges.”

  • ikon.5 architects has been awarded an Architecture Merit Award by the AIA New York Chapter for McGee Art Pavilion at the School of Art and Design, New York State College of Ceramics. The prestigious award was bestowed at the AIA New York Chapter's Honors and Awards Luncheon held on April 17, 2013 at Cipriani Wall Street where they bestowed their annual awards for Design Excellence.

  • ARCHITECT named ikon.5 architects of Princeton, N.J. number four in its listing of top designers in the United States in its September issue. Each year ARCHITECT names the top 50 architecture firms in the U.S and designates a select group of top designers. ARCHITECT is the official publication of the American Institute of Architects, AIA.

  • E.J. Ourso College of Business at Louisiana State University has been awarded two prestigious honors from the AIA Baton Rouge, a Silver Rose Award, and from the American Institute of Architects Louisiana, an Award of Merit. ikon.5 architects and Coleman Partners Architects created a joint venture to design the 167,000 square feet business school that opened in March, 2012. The awards were presented at the Louisiana AIA state convention in August, 2013.

  • ikon.5 architects, based in Princeton, N.J., has earned national recognition in the 2012 Innovative Design in Engineering and Architecture with Structural Steel awards program (IDEAS2). In honor of this achievement, members of the project team were presented with awards from the Institute of Steel Construction (AICS) during a ceremony October 26, 2012 at SUNY, New Paltz. Conducted annually by AISC, the IDEAS2 awards recognize outstanding achievement in engineering and architecture on structural steel projects across the country. The IDEAS2 Award is the highest most prestigious honor bestowed on building projects by the structural steel industry in the U.S.

  • ikon.5 architects was named number 7 in the top 50 Firms by ARCHITECT Magazine in their nationwide survey. ARCHITECT, the official publication of the American Institute of Architects, has conducted its survey for the last three years. The rankings are based on a number of factors—profitability, sustainable ethos, and design quality. An outside agency scores the entries. In the article ARCHITECT highlighted ikon.5's standing and noted that the list honors "not the biggest but the best."

  • The National Association of Home Builders recognized ikon.5 architects' Vista del Sol Residential Community at Arizona State University among the top trend-setters in the multifamily housing industry for 2009 as part of its annual Pillars of the Industry Awards program. Promoting excellence in apartment and condominium design, development, marketing and management, the Pillars of the Industry Awards are considered a showcase of future trends and innovation.

  • ikon.5 architects has designed a new 156,000 -square- foot business school for Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Slated to open in Spring, 2012, the new E.J. Ourso College of Business is designed to be the business incubator for the post-Katrina economy in Louisiana and throughout the Gulf states.

  • ikon.5 architects of Princeton, NJ have been awarded The International Architecture Award for 2010 by the Chicago Athenaeum: The Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Their winning project was Kirkwood Public Library, New Castle, Delaware.

  • The Concrete Industry Board announced ikon.5 architects the winner of the 2009 Roger H. Barbetta Award of Merit with Special Recognition for its design of The Wellness Center at the College of New Rochelle. ikon.5 architects was recognized at the 48th Annual Awards Dinner on November 4th. The first new building to be constructed on the college's campus in more than 40 years, The Center for Wellness merges landscape and building to create a LEED certified facility that rejuvenates the body, mind and spirit.

  • The Center for Wellness at the College of New Rochelle, designed by ikon.5 architects, was awarded the prestigious 2010 American Architecture Award by the Chicago Athenaeum.

  • Kirkwood Public Library, Wilmington, DE, designed by ikon.5 architects, Princeton, NJ. has won its fourth design award in three years. American Builders Quarterly has named Kirkwood Public Library the Project of the Year. The editors said, "This project exemplified the type of perseverance required for excellence in the building industry: its formation was a study in overcoming obstacles. From its unappealing location next to a busy highway to the cost of long-lasting materials ... the Kirkwood Public Library was a challenge-but one that ikon.5 architects and the project team met head on. In addition to its imaginative design, the library offers a lesson in persistence and has thus earned the Project of the Year honor."

  • ikon.5 architects, designers of the expansion and renovation to the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center, Little Falls, NJ, joined the museum's new trustees and staff for a groundbreaking ceremony on October 5, 2009 to begin construction of the main entry gallery and renovation that will be completed in 2010.

  • ikon.5 architects of Princeton, NJ have been selected to receive two American Architecture Awards for the best new U.S. buildings in 2009. The two projects chosen were The Campus Commons at the State University of New York, New Paltz and the Hockessin Public Library in Hockessin, Delaware.

  • ikon.5 architects' newly designed Barrett Honors College for Arizona State University opened this fall. The first facility of its kind in the country, Barrett Honors Residential College houses 1,700 of Barrett's 2,700 honors college students. The honors college has already become a benchmark for other universities seeking to build a similar facility. The dedication is October 15, 2009.

  • ikon.5 architects was honored with one of only three Building Type Awards in AIA New York's Annual Design Awards Program. The Center for Wellness at the College of New Rochelle was chosen in the Health Facilities category. This year the Building Type Awards are given in collaboration with the Boston Society of Architects to honor excellence in architectural design in Housing and Health Facilities.
